innovative approach

Intensives are structured to kickstart growth. The longer format allows us to dig down to the root of your challenges and develop solutions faster. A 2 day Intensive can make change equivalent to 6 months of therapy.

It can be hard to find time for weekly therapy. Intensives allow you to quickly make progress with minimal interruption to your other roles and responsibilities.

Sharing this immersive experience is often a bridge to understanding each other and connecting again. Often, intensives can help you remember why you fell in love in the first place.

10:00 – I will meet partner A one-to-one.

11:00 – I will meet with partner B one-to-one.

12:00 – Hour long lunch break

1:00 – We will review your Gottman Connect Assessment results and tie in your interviews to identify the starting treatment goals.

2:00 – 4:00 – We will begin working on the primary goals using relevant Gottman Couples Therapy interventions. We’ll also start on betrayal work, if applicable.

9:00 – 4:00 – This day is fully tailored to your specific needs and objectives.

What you’ve been doing is not working, and you are tired of banging your head against the wall.

Both of you desire to feel connected again or to end the constant conflict, and you want to do what it takes to get there.

If you’re experiencing issues that need to be dealt with soon or just want to share an immersive experience with your partner.

You’re not exclusive.

There is an undisclosed or current affair that either partner is unwilling to give up. This could include a physical or emotional affair. Both partners need to be all-in.

There is abuse in the relationship.

There is serious violence in your relationship, threats by one or both partners that serious violence might occur, or fear of serious violence.

You are dealing with addiction.

One of you has an active alcohol and/or drug addiction that is not being addressed by a recovery program.

You have suicidal or homicidal thoughts.

Either partner is seriously thinking of harming themselves or others, or has a history of serious suicide attempts or harm to others.

An innovative approach

When it comes to investing in a relationship it’s understandable to want to feel confident in making the right choice. An article published by The Wall Street Journal highlight the benefits of Intensives.

According to the article, Counseling Intensives bring about incredible transformations in relationships in a very short period of time. The journalist documented the many ways that Intensives provide couples with an opportunity to delve deeply into their issues, achieve powerful breakthroughs in communication, and experience lasting connection and overall improved relationship satisfaction.

Why should we do a 2 day intensive instead of normal 53 minute sessions?

A 2 Day Intensive offers a more impactful and efficient alternative to traditional 53-minute sessions. In a typical 53-minute session, valuable time is consumed by initial check-ins and closing discussions, leaving only around 30-40 minutes for substantial therapeutic exploration. In contrast, with a 2 Day Intensive you’re receiving a total of 12 hours of intensive therapy.

Considering a typical schedule of bi-weekly counseling sessions, which amounts to one session every two weeks, a 2 Day Intensive would be the equivalent of six months of bi-weekly counseling sessions. The Intensive experience truly allows for a concentrated focus on life-changing work, providing substantial progress and insights over a very short period of time.

when is payment due? do you offer refunds?

Upon booking your session, a non-refundable 50% deposit is due to secure your spot. To accommodate your budgeting needs, I can often offer flexible payment plans. The remaining balance is then due the the morning of the first day of your Intensive.

While I am able to reschedule your Intensive with at least 2 weeks notice, please note that all payments are non-refundable. This policy is in place due to the highly personalized and unique nature of the 2 Day Intensives, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately to meet your specific therapeutic goals while also respecting the investment of my time and energy.

    Can I use my insurance?

Unfortunately, 2 Day Intensives are not covered by insurance for a variety of reasons. Firstly, insurance companies often have strict criteria for reimbursable services, and the non-traditional format of Intensives do not meet these criteria. Additionally, the duration of Intensives, with longer sessions over a shorter period, do not align with insurance policies designed for shorter, weekly sessions. Furthermore, there are limitations on the types of counseling covered by insurance, and Intensives fall outside of these covered categories. Finally, the highly customized nature of Intensives can also pose challenges for insurance companies in standardizing reimbursement criteria. These factors collectively contribute to the unfortunate reality that insurance does not cover 2 Day Intensives.

I feel like there’s no way forward in our relationship. Is this even worth it?

Absolutely. As long as you’re motivated and willing to try something new, there’s hope for change. I’ve worked with many couples who felt this way at the beginning and have been able to overcome relational obstacles together.

WHAT IF MY partner doesn’t want to do AN INTENSIVE?

No, the therapy format I offer is for motivated couples. Solo Relationship Intensives are an alternative.
